Can I use the dust collector without a filter?

Absolutely not. Operating the device without a filter will cause dust to enter the internal motors, leading to overheating and permanent damage.

Using the unit without an original Shemax filter will void your warranty.
How should I position my hands for best suction?

For maximum dust capture, position the client’s hands directly over the center of the grill, about 2 to 4 inches (5–10 cm) above the surface.

  • Clean and Disinfect: To clean the metal grid, use only a chlorine-free disinfectant solution applied to a tissue, and wipe the metal surface.
  • Avoid Soaking: Never soak any metal parts in water, antiseptics, or any solutions, especially those containing chlorine.
  • Dry Completely: After cleaning, dry the metal thoroughly to prevent corrosion. (If corrosion does occur, you can clean the metal with a buffer).
I see dust on the motor — what’s wrong?

If you notice dust accumulation on the motors beneath the filter, double-check your filter placement.

Pro Tip: Always insert the filter with the Shemax logo facing up. If the filter is upside down, it won’t create a perfect seal, allowing dust to bypass the filter and settle on the motors.
